CHA CHA CHA’s – San Francisco

1801 Haight Street , San Francisco, CA, 94117

This is one of my all time favorite places over the last 20 years! Great Location right on the ‘Haight’ near Golden Gate Park – great for people watching. Seating is limited, so it’s 1st come 1st serve and not good to go if you are in a hurry because it is almost always crowded. The prices are reasonable. They do have a little bar area where you can sip on a pitcher of great homemade San Gria or Mojitos, while you wait for a table.

The Place is adorned with altars devoted to the saint-gods of Santeria, that change intermittently and can feature live Goldfish bowls, jewels, exotic linens, candles, etc… Unforgettable!

Great sharing plates: Cajun Shrimp – in spicy cream sauce, Steamed Black Mussels, Fried Calamari with Lemon Aioli, Fried Platanos Maduras, Guacamole, and Ricotta Spinach Empanada to name a few. Sometimes I just keep ordering more of these small plates and have San Gria and make it a meal!

The Paellas are delicious if you still want more, and so is the Arroz Con Pollo.

CHA CHA CHA’s has always been 2 thumbs up from any friends I sent there. I have not tried the new locations that have opened, but if it is the same people and recipes you can’t go wrong.
